Frequently Asked Questions

What services do you offer?

My shop is an inspected facility which allows me to prepare your hides and skulls for shipment to your country and/or taxidermist of your choice.

I also will taxidermy and complete your animal in a pose and style of your choice so when I ship it to you, you receive a beautifully finished product ready to display in your home with no extra hassle.

How do I prepare my bird to be mounted?

For birds with long tails, DO NOT bend the tail when placing in the freezer to store, this will affect the finished outcome of your bird and bend tail feathers permanently.

Stuff the nose (if possible) and throat with kleenex or paper towel, this helps prevent blood seeping out and staining the feathers.

For birds with longer necks, tuck the head alongside the body and under one wing. This will help prevent the neck from breaking and damage being caused.

Wrap your bird gently in paper towel and if possible place in a sealable bag (this helps prevent the bird from drying out in your freezer over time).

Ensure you have all necessary paperwork for birds that require a permit from Fish and Wildlife, and that you have your

  • Tag Number(s)

  • License number

  • WIN number

for all birds that require it.

How do I prepare my bear for a rug?

When skinning your bear for a rug, the traditional method of skinning from the belly and legs is preferred. If you do not know how to skin out the head and paws, it is recommended to cut through the last joint on the ankles, breaking off the feet and leaving them attached to the hide. It is ok to cut through the center of the paw pads.

Skin up the the base of the skull, finding the last joint that attaches the neck to the skull an cutting through leaving the skull attached to the hide.

Doing it this way if you are unsure allows for me to ensure there is enough eyelid, nose, ear and lip on the hide to get you the best possible product.
